The only time I’ve loved was in my youth

The only time I’ve lost to a degree.

I wish that then I realized the truth.

Relationships are an idiosyncrasy.

I married someone I did not respect

But hidden were these truths to my young brain.

I didnt’ treat her well and the effect

Was that I lost what I could not obtain.

They say that wisdom’s wasted on the Old.
