If maybe were a promise, it would be
Worse than the lie that tells us all we’re free.
‘Cause freedom is a figment of the mind.
To force us all into a mortal bind.
Just a lie told to us by the rich.
For all they care we’d all die in a ditch.
You’re privileged if you look like you and me.
But privilege isn’t freedom, as you see.
If life were ever promised to be fair,
And hoodlums hid their heirlooms under stairs,
Then stares would spoil their hiding places, see?
Just look me in the eyes and say we’re free!
And if you’re free then what the fuck am I?
Jailed for not believing all their lies!
For God is just a figment of your mind.
A read in Hebrew proves him cruel, unkind.
Religion robs religious of their souls.
A lie told just to keep complete control.
We’re always being lied to by the ones
Who really run this world and those who shun
Those of us who work to pay their way
We work so they don’t have to every day.
They force us all to toil so very long—
It’s not what we evolved for and it’s wrong.
There are countries much happier than we.
They work far less and they are far more free.
They trust their leaders. Money doesn’t play
Any role in building their Beltway.
Our economy is for the rich.
They write all of our laws and then bewitch
The dumbest of us, whom they’re keeping numb
By wrecking education so they’re dumb.
The Cops only exist to help the rich.
If Capitalism fails, they’re there to fix
The systematic rigging—fully armed.
They violate the maxim “Do no harm.”
I guess protest and riots are our salve.
But when we all protest they beat us down.
But news to COPS: there’re more of us than them.
And we don’t simply protest on a whim.
So what are we, the working class, to do?
We can look for inspiration and a clue
By researching the history of France
Who never left their politics to chance.
They keep a close eye on The Bourgeoisie
And overthrow them to prevent their greed
From ruining their polite society.
