Snowed in at Santa’s Workshop

Christmas was approaching once again

And Santa and his reindeer were snowed in

There was lots of ice and snow!

And he had somewhere to go!

‘Twas time for Christmas gifting to begin.

So, Santa wracked his head for what to do.

He even got the Missus on it too.

They gave it lots of thought

Then an idea, short, was wrought

Then Santa got with Melvin—his chief elf

They formulated plans all by themselves.

Missus Claus would boil the water

Every minute it grew hotter

Then they’d pour it on the ice and free themselves.

So at the workshop sudd’nly spirits sailed.

And as the last of letters, to him, mailed,

Santa, with some luck,

Would see them all unstuck

And given this, the season could prevail.

And so the elves all took their boiling pails

Intentioned, now, their problem to assail,

They poured the water thus

And it melted without fuss,

The snow and ice that would, their plans, derail.

So Santa gathered presents in his sleigh

And reindeer lined to lead him on his way

With a ‘Ho-ho-ho’ they started

But before they all departed

The reindeer slipped and slid, I must convey.

For what was left of what had kept them in

Had turned completely into ice again

The poor, poor reindeer paws

Couldn’t take dear Santa Claus

More than mere inches from their furtive pen!

But Santa knew, himself, just what to do

To make their spirits light—a reindeer chew.

They fed ‘til they were bloated then the

Reindeer, all nine, floated!

Right out of Santa’s Workshop they all flew!

But Ted and Terry, snuggled in their beds

Knew all this was a dream inside their heads.

And all they knew was when

They opened up their eyes again

They’d both have Christmas morning just ahead.
