Two water buffalo lock horns.
They duel for pride, for honor
For the right to first pick a mate.
Again and again they collide
Horn on horn
Then suddenly they are stuck
Their horns locked in a warm embrace
Refusing to do further battle.
The buffalo struggle to free themselves.
They tire and drop to the ground,
Horns still entwined.
Two men bravely try to help the wild beasts.
They try and separate the horns with swords
It doesn’t work.
One man tries to scare the buffalo
He rises and struggles to free himself, once more
Suddenly, the long ordeal is over. The two buffalo are free
Neither still remembers what the fight was even about.
They bound off side-by-side as friends.
