I just love writing poetry and playing with rhyme and meter. This was first draft. Required no edits. You have to learn about rhyme and rhythm and meter and how they’ve been used in the past to do your entirely own thing and use them in ways that perhaps people haven’t seen before. And I think rhyme in poetry is very important. All my favorite poetry rhymes. Every poem I’ve ever committed to memory has rhymed. Try memorizing a poem that doesn’t rhyme. Do you see? There’s a reason it’s easier for us to remember rhymed poetry and thus, it makes more of an impact in my esteemed opinion.

I can tell you’re lying cause you’re

Trying way too hard.

I can tell you’re full of it

Though you think you’re very smart.

The gist of what I’m saying is that you’ll

Impress nobody lying.

The best way to impress someone

Is without even trying.
