Some Ancient Grecian Art

Detail of a Greek vase showing Odysseus and Circe, 5th century BC

What do you notice about Circe? Black features, right? We think of them as African but Circe wasn’t African. Her Island was mythical so why would she have been African when Odysseus’ journey was supposed to be in the Mediterraen?

(Perseus); Wikipedia).
Etruscan Black Figure, ca. 520-510 BCE

Why would Perseus have been Black? Etruscan? Etruscans were the precursors to Romans. The earliest Romans were Etruscans as far as that region of Italy goes. But history gets rewritten so often. Did you realize Romulus and Remus represent Gemini? So do Adam and Eve.

If you research these pieces there will be poorly-concocted excuses to why these figures are Black that have nothing to do with the culture that they originated from being Black.
