I learned something new recently that did not at all surprise me but it was exciting to learn because it was more corroboration that the Mesoamericans were right about the previous ages of Earth. Both they and the Ancient Greeks believed there had been 4 different previous ages of the Earth, ruled by different heavenly bodies (the last age it was Saturn) and that we are currently in the 5th Age. Now, even if we accept that there has been contact between the Ancient Greeks and the Mesoamericans, which is certainly possible, this suggests to us this was once a fairly common belief all around the world.

I know wikipedia is highly problematic. I’m sure I can find an issue with both of these entries, but when it’s just reporting factual things and not providing conjecture it’s useful as a source. So view with suspicious eyes and by all means look up other sources on both of these topics. (really same topic) I did and there’s a plethora of reading material on it.
