I’m talking, of course, about human beings.
When the Spaniards arrived for their second voyage to Florida they came with cattle, hogs and gators. Just kidding about the gators. They were there already. The third thing was horses. So whatever of those they brought over, they let loose wild in the forests. This was 1521. That was 500 years ago. Those animals adapted well, and when they parceled off land eventually to settlers, they could find these animals free roaming in the forests of Florida, they could brand them, tame the horses and call them their own.
I have no idea what effect that had on the native population but it probably doesn’t matter. I’m pretty sure there are still wild cattle, horses and hogs in Florida from the ones the Spanish brought over.
