I think it is not well understood for whatever reason that society in the past has thumbed their nose at entertainers. It’s why the Jester gets conflated with The Fool so frequently and even before fool had the modern connotation. It is interesting how that works.

Society is inverted today intentionally. The Nerds took over and became the Bullies but they are still nothing but Nerds with Power. It’s like having the secret to enlightenment all within your grasp and being unable to apply any of it because you spent so much time and effort into destroying knowledge and culture, you destroyed your own too.
