I can’t possibly sum up just how much Brian Wilson has meant to me and who I am as a musician, perhaps most specifically as a composer. And if you are any kind of creative you will understand this: the greatest thing any artist can give another artist is permission. Permission to do certain things, to take certain leaps. It’s the same with any creative endevour. It’s why when Monet started going blind everyone started painting like blind Monet and called it Impressionism!
