I swear I saw a skunk ape in the 

Swamp on Saturday.

I was gliding on the water there,

Across the Everglades,

When out of the corner of the lamp

I saw some eyes.

Reflecting light right back at me

I couldn’t have been more surprised.

I turned around and left the spot

And haven’t been back since.

I saw the Skunk Ape once and that’s

Enough for penitence.
